If you have read a few months ago the article named Workspaces, you certainly use the workspaces system in Haiku.
Now what about having a handy way to identify the current workspace you're working with ?
For that, there's a native application called WorkspaceNumber.
Let's review how to install and user it :)
Open HaikuDepot and search for the word "workspacenumber" in the all packages tab :
Click on install to proceed.
And that's it !
Surprisingly there's no shortcut to launch the application the first time.
You will need to open the "/boot/system/apps" folder and then click on the WorkspaceNumber application:
On my machine, I have a first workspace to access websites with the Iceweasel browser, the IconEdit application opened, but also StreamAudio to play internet radios :
If you look on the Deskbar, you should notice the number "1" in green :
It means the current workspace used is the number one.
Now let's switch to the second workspace :
I have LlamaCpp server running, QtCreator opened with LlamaCpp source code, and IceWeasel browser to interact with the AI assistant :
As you can see, the number "2" in purple is displayed in the Deskbar, meaning the workspace 2 is currently activated:
Before using this application, I had the habit to put different wallpapers on each workspace with different colors.
Now with WorkspaceNumber, if I don't remember in which workspace I am, the Deskbar will remind me :)
Do you use WorkspaceNumber also with Haiku ?
If so, let's put a comment below and share your opinion :)
